Below are some organisations you can learn about to help donate money to Ukraine, ways to help spread the word, and petitions to sign, every little help counts.

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, the world has been watching Russia’s troops entering Kyiv, with Ukrainian residents forced to flee their homes as fire and missiles destroy their hometown. Countries around the world are imposing economic sanctions on Russia and citizens are forced to stay in Kyiv to defend their capital. It’s safe to say we all have been the horrific incident happening to individuals in Ukraine, having their freedom stripped away from them in a matter of hours.

If you would like to help and aren’t sure how here are some real ways you can help give the backing of Ukraine:

Sign the petition:

  • Regardless of your country of residency: Terminate any relationships with any companies with Russian ties

  • Regardless of your country of residency: Recognise Putin’s regime as war criminals

  • For British citizens or UK residents: Petition to UK “Pledge any necessary military support to defend Ukraine”

We’ve listed some international aid organisations below that are working around the clock to help the people of Ukraine.

International humanitarian organisation Care is providing support to help fund food, water, hygiene kits, and psychosocial support with an aim to reach 4 million people. They are working to prioritise women, girls, families, and the elderly that need immediate support during this crisis. Care aims to save lives, defeat world poverty, and fight to achieve social justice for women and girls. You can donate by simply going to their website here

Non-profit organisation Nova Ukraine is determined to raise awareness about Ukraine and organise various aid programs to assist Ukraine in recovering from the social and economic crisis. They provide humanitarian aid and work closely with non-profits and volunteers in helping Ukraine. You can easily donate on their website here using a credit card or crypto, they also have a Facebook fundraising page to gain support for their donations.

  • Sunflower of Peace

Sunflower of Peace began five years ago as a fundraiser to provide backpacks with first and medical kit supplies to front-line doctors, and currently, they are providing backpacks to Ukrainian soldiers, individuals, and volunteers. According to their fundraising information, “Each backpack is designed for groups of 5 to 10 people and includes a variety of first aid supplies: bandages, anti-hemorrhagic medicine like Quikclot and Celox, medical instruments, and a means for survival in extreme conditions.” You can help support this fundraiser by donating through their Facebook page

One of the largest International humanitarian aid organisation UNICEF has launched an emergency intervention in Ukraine to aid in providing health, hygiene, and education supplies. They are also looking for support to help provide and protect children separated from families to provide emergency assistance and provide safe drinking water to those affected in the area. You can support donations through their website here

The organisation is currently working to support to provide food, water, hygiene kits, and cash assistance for children in Ukraine. The international non-profit organisation is working hard to address the needs required by children growing up in times of crisis. According to Save the Children’s website, 85% of every dollar donated to Save the Children goes directly to providing assistance to vulnerable children. You can donate here
